Windsor castle tour

Around 1680, King Charles II planted a wide avenue with a double row of poplars which runs south from Windsor Castle to Snow Hill, a little less than two miles away. This is now known as the long march and the route through the castle was used by many visitors to Windsor as a very pleasant walk in the sun.

Few visitors realize that in reality behind the bronze statue of King George III are many more miles of green space to enjoy.

Windsor Great Park covers 5,000 acres of Surrey and Berkshire, and well worth a visit. There are so many things to evaluate. First, is surrounded by some of the oldest oak trees in England. A number is considered going back to the time of William the Conqueror almost 1,000 years ago.

A huge lake at Virginia Water is a lovely place walking and Roman ruins on its banks are a little strange. They were actually bought this place Leptis Magna (near modern Tripoli) in 1818 and was rebuilt as a folly. Nearby is a giant totem made by the aboriginal peoples of British Columbia, which was given to Queen Elizabeth in 1958.

Moving in Central Park, a field pole mass (Club de la Guardia) is an unexpected delight. Polo is played here exciting and most weekends in summer. Usually there is no entrance fee. In the center of the park is a small village. It was built to provide housing for workers in Real Estate. It is a beautiful place, best enjoyed on foot or by bicycle.

Saville Garden southern boundary of the park has a well-kept garden of rhododendrons, azaleas, trees and conifers with a pond and a greenhouse. A right input is applied to this part of the park.

Finally, as we head into the castle, the large park is among the deer Windsor Castle and Villa Great Park. In the mating season deer calls echo through the local countryside.

As you can see, the Royal Windsor has much more to the Castle to offer visitors.

Slough Berkshire This is Sir William Herschel (1738-1822) made some surprising and important astronomical discoveries. He used a telescope he built in his garden for astronomical research. But not the only famous resident of the future history of this was extended north of the city of Windsor, commonly known as the Thames Valley.

The town of Slough has become a melting pot of many different ethnic groups lately. Technology companies and industry international advanced clothing and chose this city as a place to locate, create many opportunities for employment. This makes it an attractive city to live in another attraction is that it is so near London, is a simple matter of living here and traveling.

In the 12th century, Slough was a quiet village on the road to Bristol. Continued happily this situation for many centuries until the arrival of industry training. As Maidenhead Berkshire, Slough is in progress on the route from London to both Bath and Bristol. In fact it was the second leg in London, and is considered very important.

Although the city was named most difficult "working in Britain" of the 1920s, Slough has more amenities than just industry. Slough Cavern system dates to the Quaternary period. According to several experts, the period Quaternary has started from 1.8 to 2.6 million years. However, it is estimated that much of the early formation of these caves were as little as 10 000 years ago towards the end of an era Pleistocene. The Quaternary has two periods, the Pleistocene and Holocene. Regardless of all this scientific talk, these caves are a place to place fantastic to visit.

Slough is an ideal destination for accommodation that is close to Heathrow. Some hotels are widely available and is able to explore the countryside Berkshire easily. A few kilometers from this city is Windsor Castle, Pinewood Studios, Eaton School, Berkshire Downs, castles, battlefields, museums, Royal Ascot, and my favorite chocolate factory in March has been in operation since 1930.

Many of Christmas traditions and practices that we like, dates back to Victorian times, covering the period of stay of Queen Victoria United Kingdom from 1837 to 1901. During this period, the country has experienced a sort of emergency before the Puritan ban on extravagant celebrations. Naturally, people rather exuberant celebration of their newly adopted gay and flamboyant, causing a variety of traditions. Many of the most popular traditions are still very Victorian in practice today.

Perhaps one of the most popular Victorian Christmas traditions are still observed today is to send Christmas cards. The practice of sending printed Christmas cards started in England and has been a change in writing, followed by the greetings of the children of English parents. The printed cards a great success and later became a practice of infectious spread from England to the rest of the UK and around the world. Over a century later, still send Christmas cards by truck to destinations around the world.

The Christmas tree is not a British innovation, but the story is that the husband German Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, introduced and put the Christmas tree from Germany to Britain in the 1840s. Windsor Castle, the popularity tree spread rapidly, becoming even more popular in the United States has never been to England, and now the Christmas tree is virtually synonymous with Christmas, but have been banned by the Puritans as too pagan symbolism.

Two London-based makers of sweets, James Hovell and Tom Smith, invented Christmas crackers in 1846. Manufacturers of packaged candy in his candy-colored paper twisted around the tree. Wrapped sweets became even more popular when love notes, small toys and other gadgets also found inside the cookies.

The views of traditional singers Carol also began in England during the Victorian era. Christmas Songs have become crowd favorites. Among them, 'O Come All Ye Faithful', 'View Amid the Winters Snow "and" O Little Town of Bethlehem. "

The next time you exchange gifts with family and friends, remember that the traditional Christmas began during the Victorian era. During the reign of Queen Victoria, the middle class began making hand-made toys that were given to the children day free Christmas.

The immensely popular Father Christmas is a very characteristic Victorian tradition, too. In England, Santa Claus was first known as Santa Noel, who is committed to giving gifts to children on Christmas Eve.

They are just some of the most famous traditional Victorian Christmas. Add color and safely enjoy Christmas.

For some great Christmas Victoriana to add to your own holiday celebrations, there are wonderful Victorian Christmas decorations available, but some of my favorite collectibles are actual ephemera from the period, such as Victorian Christmas Cards
