Windsor castle tour
Around 1680, King Charles II planted a wide avenue with a double row of poplars which runs south from Windsor Castle to Snow Hill, a little less than two miles away. This is now known as the long march and the route through the castle was used by many visitors to Windsor as a very pleasant walk in the sun.
Few visitors realize that in reality behind the bronze statue of King George III are many more miles of green space to enjoy.
Windsor Great Park covers 5,000 acres of Surrey and Berkshire, and well worth a visit. There are so many things to evaluate. First, is surrounded by some of the oldest oak trees in England. A number is considered going back to the time of William the Conqueror almost 1,000 years ago.
A huge lake at Virginia Water is a lovely place walking and Roman ruins on its banks are a little strange. They were actually bought this place Leptis Magna (near modern Tripoli) in 1818 and was rebuilt as a folly. Nearby is a giant totem made by the aboriginal peoples of British Columbia, which was given to Queen Elizabeth in 1958.
Moving in Central Park, a field pole mass (Club de la Guardia) is an unexpected delight. Polo is played here exciting and most weekends in summer. Usually there is no entrance fee. In the center of the park is a small village. It was built to provide housing for workers in Real Estate. It is a beautiful place, best enjoyed on foot or by bicycle.
Saville Garden southern boundary of the park has a well-kept garden of rhododendrons, azaleas, trees and conifers with a pond and a greenhouse. A right input is applied to this part of the park.
Finally, as we head into the castle, the large park is among the deer Windsor Castle and Villa Great Park. In the mating season deer calls echo through the local countryside.
